Oh, it's definitely time for cat, book, and possibly strong drink.

A little while back, it came to light that one of the authors of SOPA was a copyright violator; now a co-sponsor of a bill requiring that public assistance recipients be tested for drug abuse has been arrested and charged with DUI.

I'm not perfect. I make mistakes... but I do my best to not be a fucking hypocrite.

I am so tired of the do as I say, not as I do mentality.

I am so tired of the two(+)-tiered system of justice: one set of rules for white men, one set of rules if you can afford a hotshit lawyer, "what rules?" if we're talking about a corporation or a government official.

Explain to me, in detail, when and why egalitarianism should be abandoned? Why the hell should rules I'm supposed to obey NOT apply to some Other? (I *will* grant that allowing firetrucks and ambulances and squadcars to ignore traffic lights and speed limits contributes to the general public good. Please argue other contraventions by case...)

Similarly, we allow that "car driving woman in labor" is allowed to run red lights. It's not always obvious which cars those are, but we allow that "this is an EMERGENCY" gets special dispensation.

I'm really tired of the idea that "I'm rich, white and male, and I'm not comfortable right now" is an "emergency."
