Worth every second of 5+ minutes of your time. "How to live after the party's over" - this. Great soundbite, succinct summary, and one of the things I'm working towards...

Yup. I'm saying it again. police state, panopticon, surveillance society, orwell

On the other hand, there is this... I trust Zimmerman, believe that ex-Navy Seals want security for their brethren. But I'm going to wait for the peer review before thinking about $20 per month.

And people wonder why I'm interested in Faraday Cage purses and wallets.

More ruminations on Google's new "privacy" policy... I may be mis-remembering, but it seems to me that Google's been happy to roll over at a suggestion from Big Government, without the prod of anything so pointy as court orders; this sort of data aggregation just means that Uncle Sam doesn't have to be bothered with spying on us, and somebody else gets to profit from the process. Not happy about that.

Interesting points regarding the consumer economy and why "trickle down" doesn't work

Scary shit here... the idea that there are entire communities in which faith trumps actual evidence (and that those communities are taking power to the degree that they have) makes me want to run screaming, hide somewhere...

And it's not just J. P. Morgan Chase that's paid substantial donations bribes money to the NYPD. http://politics.salon.com/2011/10/07/the_nypd_now_sponsored_by_wall_street/singleton/

The fascinating stuff first:

an oldie-but-goodie that came from: neurophilosophy (and, yes, neurophilosophy goes on the reading list next to neuroanthropology.)

Cool stuff for San francisco history geeks

The political:
Who's well traveled? I think the biggest surprise for me was Alaska's percentage...

A handful of links for Occupy Wall Street:

Thoughts on who the protesters are

What news?

"home"...

(still dealing with slooooow computer issues. but I think I can place my order now...)
Oh, my.

In spite of twitter's manipulation of "trending" #fuckyouwashington is still going strong, and getting lots of notice. (Speaking of that manipulation, I did not know that J.P. Morgan bought a chunk of Twitter - this just *might* explain why we don't see the trend.)

Slate's picked up on it

The trendmap is still rolling them a tweet every second or so

There's a sort of best-of and explanation here

And it seems to be breeding. (and USDOR has its own hashtag...)

I think I'm going to toddle off and collect more linkies. After yoga and coffee...
