San Francisco still had paper ballots to mark in the last election...

But the article in Salon makes me think that absentee ballots might be the way to go, elsewhere...

We've been doing absentee ballots for years. And we don't mail them in advance, because once we got one *returned*--stupid post office read our address (the return address) as the delivery addy, and sent it back to us, and of course it got to us after the election was over. So now we fill 'em out in advance, and on election day, take them to any ballot place in the city (I think we're allowed anywhere in the county) & drop them off.

I've considered trying to get things coordinated enough to have an "absentee ballot party" a couple of weeks before the election, where half a dozen or so people get together to discuss the candidates & ballot measures & what they've heard about them, and coordinate their efforts so their votes don't cancel each other out.

XKCD had something to say about voting mecurity.
