I'm not doing a blackout to protest SOPA/PIPA. (I've been posting anti-blacklist links for weeks now. If you haven't figured out that censorship is a bad thing, I can't help you.)

I am going to recommend supporting EFF and other pro-free speech bodies with lobbying capabilities, and I'm going to strongly recommend looking at the works of Lawrence Lessig. There's a fairly lightweight interview with him at Rolling Stone, and a two-part interview with Jon Stewart on youtube (can't find the links right now), and audio/video of a talk he gave last night at Yerba Buena Center. Lessig is a good speaker: articulate, entertaining, passionate, and very intelligent; LongNow is an organization worth supporting - if you can, become a member! I'd say it's worth it just for the access to the HD lectures (if you're a fan of TED? You may not recognize that many of the speakers, but the subjects will probably please you), but I'm local and also get to see the speakers live... I may be a little biased.

Anyway, his talk is why I'm not actually advocating people talk to their congresscritters about specific issues: http://maplight.org/ does a wonderful job of highlighting how money talks and how Nipper Congress listens.

Today's experiment is a personal blackout - I'm not going to be spending any more time today surfing the intarwebs. I'll be checking email, but little else...
