The anniversary of Loma Prieta just passed. So, I'm taking this opportunity to ask if you have any sort of emergency supplies/kit/go-bag? (If not, why not? I don't need to know that, but you do...)

If so, what condition is it in? Anything expired? Does it actually contain all the things you think it does? All the things you think it should?



(My go-bag is in reasonable shape, but not great. I could use some fresh water, some more calories, more cash... The household emergency supplies are mixed at best [by my standards] but I do tend to keep a reasonably well-supplied household for a single gal. Again, I could use fresh water, a bit more food that doesn't require gas or electricity to be palatable/digestible...)



(And, while I'm nagging - do you have a smoke detector? Does it work? When was the last time you checked/changed the batteries/looked at the little blinkylight?)

Our smoke detector has been disabled. It kept going off when Rob cooked burgers. Our house doesn't have enough ventilation to deal with smoke detectors. (However, we do have overhead sprinklers, which we've been assured will go off in case of real fire.)
